Office gets new icons.
Office gets new icons

Recently, Microsoft teased in a video that they're going to change their Office icons.

As small as this sounds, it is pretty big news.
These icons haven't changed in over 10 years since they were created and have become an almost culturally known thing imprinted into our brains.
Microsoft is making them to better fit their new unified UI style called Metro.

What I think Microsoft is wanting to achieve with these new designs is to show the user that they have entered a new age of the software that is seperate and better from the last.

Wow. They actually do look really sleek and fit the whole 'Metro' UI really well!
